I suppose that all of those who stayed for the second week at Sandbridge have now moved out and are on their way home. Yesterday was the last day for my caregivers, so I am on my own. Yesterday I read The Economist. For some reason The Economist did not come last week. It was probably put in the wrong mailbox by the postman, and whoever got it kept it. I frequently receive other peoples’ mail, but I always pass it on to them. I feel good today.

Last night I watched PBS shows about the wonders of the Greek, Roman, and ancient world. Now I think I am ready to make it on my own again. I feel good today. Mary called me yesterday, and we had a nice talk. She said she had seen a fox at the beach, so maybe that was the dog the owner thought he saw. Anyway, that issue is settled now.

Yesterday I watched a Netflix DVD of the Coen brothers’ movie True Grit. I read the book on my Kindle a few months ago and liked it a lot. Like all Coen Brothers’ movies, this one was very good. I give it four stars. I also watched the PBS shows about the Incas and the Mayans and Aztecs. I continue to feel good. I have told my caregivers that Friday (tomorrow) will be their last day. I am sure I will be able to manage just fine without them.

Yesterday I called Sandbridge Realty and was told that the owner now agrees to rent to us and that we have the house again for next year. I have no idea where the misunderstanding about the dog came from, but apparently it is no longer a problem, Last night Joshua came over with fish and chips (and onion rings) for our dinner. We watched some Giant’s baseball and some of the Bearing Sea fishing (actually crabbing) show while we ate. Afterward I watched the last four episodes of Mad Men Season 1 on a Netflix DVD. I still give it three stars. I am still feeling good. I think I will make this coming Friday the last day for my caregivers. I think I can manage just fine by myself after that.

Last night I watched some PBS programs about Abraham Lincoln. One of them dealt with myths about Lincoln, and I was disgusted that they did not mention my dad’s book The Lincoln Legend. Sandbridge Realty called me yesterday and told me our owner said he did not want to rent to us again because he saw a dog in our yard. I said we did not have a dog and there must be some mistake. Do any of you know anything about a dog? Did someone else in the family bring one over? I feel good again today.

I just got back from the DMV. My caregiver Junior drove me to get my drivers license renewed. I had to pass a written test and an eye test. I passed them both, so I guess I will be able to continue driving after all. When I came back from the hospital I was so discouraged that I thought I would have to quit driving. Yesterday Junior and I watched the US Women lose to Japan in World Cup soccer. It was a good game, and the Us dominated the game, but Japan won in an overtime shootout. Although I routed for the US, I was not sorry to see Japan win. I very much admired the way they played. In the evening I watched Masterpiece Mystery on PBS. I feel good again today.

Yesterday I went to the bank to get some more cash. I figured that if the world economy crashes, it might be hard to buy things without it. I also read some more of Obama’s book on my Kindle. In the evening I watched the movie The Razor’s Edge on PBS. I had read the book one night when I was in college and liked it a lot. On the other hand, the movie seemed kind of silly to me, perhaps because it was made so long ago. I give it only three stars. I feel good again today.
