Message 1057

Last Night I watched the Les Miserables 25th Anniversary Concert at the O2 on PBS. I had seen parts of it before, but this was the first time I saw the whole thing from the beginning. I had read the Classic Comics version when I was a kid, so I knew the story. This version had the lyrics as subtitles during the songs, which helped. It is very interesting as an opera and it is amazing that the Victor Hugo story, published in about 1880 could be translated so effectively into English. It is a tribute to the power of Victor Hugo’s writing that it resonate so well more than a century later. If any of you are interested and have a few hours to spare, I highly recommend that you watch it. I am feeling good today. I have almost finished my Keflex prescription

Message 1056

I had a good night last night and I feel pretty good this morning. Last night I watched a DVD of the movie Gone Baby Gone. This was another thriller directed and co-written by Ben Affleck, but this one stars his brother in the leading role. It is filmed in Boston like before and the neighborhood is almost a character in the film. It is based on a series of books of fiction, but is very gritty and realistic. I give it 3.3 stars.

Message 1055

I felt so good this morning I went to Safeway early. To my surprise when I finished putting away all the groceries, I vomited, so I went to bed and just woke up. I feel OK now, so don’t be alarmed. I think I will lie down again.

Message 1054

I stuck to my resolution not to nap yesterday, so I was able to have a good sleep last night. I even had pleasant dreams. I woke up to birds chirping at sunrise and took my Keflex pill. I then went back to bed and finally dozed off for a nap for an hour or so. I have now recorded my blood pressure, taken my morning Labetalol, and answered an email from some college friends. I think this will be a good day. Last night I watched a DVD of the movie The Town. It was a thriller about robbing banks written, directed, and starred in by Ben Aflac. I give it 3.7 stars.

Message 1053

I lay awake all night until I finally got up at 6 AM to take my Keflex pill. Then I went to sleep until nearly noon and took my next Keflex and my other assorted pills including my Labetalol. I am determined today not to nap so much so I can do my sleeping at night. Today I am going to do laundry. I feel enough better now that I should have no problem with this chore. I finished Science yesterday and read most of The Economist. I hope I am finally getting back on track.

Message 1052

I have not vomited since Thursday afternoon, so I am getting better. I take the antibiotic Keflex four times a day: at 6 Am; noon; 6 PM; and midnight. My family doctor, Sherry Huang says I should continue the Labetalol too, which I am. I finished Science yesterday and am starting The Economist today.

Message 1051

Josh was a lifesaver for me yesterday. He drove me to PAMF for my appointment. I was vomiting, so my urologist just replaced my Foley and said come back in three weeks. He also gave me another Keflex prescription and a shot. I have to take Keflex 4 times a day. After PAMF Josh drove me to Safeway and bought some supplies for me then to CVS to pick up my prescription. I feel much better today. No more vomiting. Jason called yesterday and told me about his visit to PAMF where they diagnosed his nausea problem as caused by migraines. Maybe that is what is causing mine too.

Message 1050

I have had to give up on publishing to my blog. Microsoft will not let me. I tried uninstalling the new Microsoft browser, but it will not uninstall.. Unless Jason or Ethan can figure out a solution I guess these messages are only going to be available in the e-mail version. Josh is giving me a ride to PAMF this afternoon to see my urologist. I need to take a shower first, but I do not think I am up to shaving.

Message 1049

Last night Josh came over and watched the end of the Sharks season with me. The Sharks were leading 2-1 with about 12 seconds left in the third period when the ref called icing on the Sharks. Sure enough the replay showed that it was not icing because it hit one of the Vancouver players in the shoulder on the way down the ice, but Vancouver scored and sent the game into overtime, which turned into double overtime before Vancouver scored and put an end to it. Josh was upset of course, but I thought it was typical of the way the series has gone. The Sharks are just not suited the the type of dirty play it takes to win a series like this. Aside from this, I feel pretty good today.

Message 1048

Yesterday I finally got around to eating the burger Joshua brought me during Sunday’s hockey game.I warmed it up in the microwave, so it was still quite good. I am feeling some better today, but I am still a little weak. The fact that I am getting hungry though is a good sign. I have not vomited in several days, so I think I am emerging from a long downturn. Josh is coming by this afternoon for the hockey game.

Message 1047

Josh came over for the hockey game yesterday, but it was a disaster. The Sharks lost 2-4 and now trail the series 1-3 games. After the game I watched Poirot on Masterpiece Mystery. If the Sharks lose tomorrow also, I will at least have less time to spend watching TV.

Message 1046

I am feeling better every day. I have not vomited in several days, and the Sharks won last night. Josh went to the game, with Kevin, or Kermit, I forget which, but he was thrilled too. The Sharks went ahead 3-0 in the first period. They ended up winning 4-3, and now trail the series 1-2 games. I was interested that the refs now call penalties for a stick in the face that draws blood even if they do not see it happen. I have been disgusted that Vancouver is such a dirty team. Thornton and Setogucci both were bloodied like this in game 2 and were not called. Apparently the league must have stepped in. The refs did call a game misconduct on one of the Sharks players for a hit the was not obviously bad, which allowed Vancouver to come as close as they did. The next game is at noon tomorrow. Josh may go to this one too.

Message 1045

I feel a lot better today. I am getting my appetite back. I actually ate three meals yesterday. I am starting to watch news and Charlie Rose again. Tonight I will watch the Sharks game. I hope being at home will help them get their act together.

Message 1044

I took a shower yesterday and felt much better afterward. I also did laundry. Joshua came over to watch the Sharks game and brought me a Big Mac which I ate with a glass of milk for dinner. Unfortunately the game did not go so well. The Sharks scored first, and it was tied 2-2 at the start of the third period, but then things fell apart and the Sharks lost 3-7. Josh was so upset he could not even stay to the end. He has tickets to Friday’s game in San Jose with his friends. The Sharks now trail in the series 0-2 games. I feel good today. I have not thrown up in two days.

Message 1043

I feel good today, but not yet quite well enough to take a shower and wash off the stink the has become part of my being. Maybe I will manage it before the hockey game tonight. I have not thrown up since Josh brought me my new pills yesterday, so I am optimistic. Thank you all for your support.

Message 1042

Josh has just brought me my prescriptions. He has been a lifesaver for me. I have just taken my first antinausa pile and my first Labetalol. I am hopeful for a big improvement now.

Message 1041

Yesterday Josh came over wad watched the hockey game with me. Joe Thornton scored the first goal, so they were ahead in the first period, They went ahead again in the second period when Marleau scored their second goal. In the third period they let Vancouver score two goals, so they last the game 2-3. Below is a copy of the email I sent to my doctor at PAMF. If and when I get a response, I will ask Josh to pick them up for me. He can use my credit card to pay for them.

Message 1040

I have been throwing up for the past three days, but I am managing the keep down enough liquid to avoid total dehydration. Also for those of you accustomed to reading these messages on my blog I still have not found a way to post them using the new Internet 9 Explorer that Microsoft suckered me into downloading and installing. I seem to be caught in the middle of a war between Microsoft and Google. I may have to uninstall Internet Explorer 9. I hope I feel well enough to watch tonight’s game between The Sharks and Vancouver.

Message 1039

Yesterday I went to Safeway for my weekly shopping. In the late afternoon and evening I watched the Sharks beat Detroit. They went ahead 2-0 in the first period, but in period three they were tied 2-2 when Marleau scored the winning goal. What a relief it was! Now they only need eight more victories. The first game against Vancouver is on Sunday.

I am getting used to my new catheter, so I feel a little better this morning.

Message 1038

I had a quiet day at home yesterday. I did not feel up to going to Safeway, so I will go today. Last night I watched PBS shows about what happened to the Minoan civilization on Crete (it was wiped out by a Tsunami), and another one about Stonehenge. There was also an interesting one about bats. Tonight is the hockey game. Jason and Joshua are going to see it.

Message 1059

Today is my best day in a long time. I finished all of my Keflex yesterday, and I have not thrown up in several days. Yesterday I took a shower and shaved, but I lay awake for most of the night after Charlie Rose was over. I will have to make sure I do not nap any today. We had a lot of rain last night, and it is predicted to continue for the next few days.
